Located in the Osaka prefecture, the city of Osaka can be found on the Honshu island, in the Kansai area. The prefecture's capital, Osaka is home to a population of more than two and a half million and is located alongside the Yodo River. Osaka is the country's third-biggest city and is an important commercial centre, with busy ports and a spreading metropolitan area.

Sited on a man-made island on the south-western side of Osaka, Kansai International Airport (KIX) stands in the heart of Osaka Bay. The island measures approximately 4 km / 2.5 miles in length by 1 km / 0.5 miles in width. Serving more than 15 million passengers per annum, Kansai Airport offers many international and domestic flights, and dates back to 1994.
